Process vs. Product →
Normally, I would classify myself as a Process Knitter, i.e. someone who knits for the sake of knitting, because it’s an enjoyable thing to do, not necessarily because I end up with beautiful…

Daily Photo 29/30: Holiday Knitting
I no longer knit specific holiday gifts, at least not anything big, because they are never finished on time. (Random presents are more fun anyways, right?) But I very much enjoy holiday knitting magazines, for year-round project ideas!

Daily Photo 28/30: Poinsettias!
Beautiful Christmas decorations! If you’re unfamiliar with the legend of the poinsettia, hit up your favorite search engine; it’s a good one! (Remember when I said these photos wouldn’t be post-processed? I meant it. Hello blown-out red channel!)

Daily Photo 27/30: Christmas Tomatoes!
Yep, they should be beautifully red and ripe just around Christmastime. One of the many benefits of mild winters! (Random note: This is the first of the Daily Photos that was not taken with my iPhone, but with my DSLR, ‘cause I was already outside doing a mini knitting photoshoot. Bet you wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t told you!)

Daily Photo 26/30: Temptation
I’m not a Black Friday Shopper, but I did run some errands this afternoon, and took advantage of the good deals. It was hard not to buy this entire wall of beads at Hobby Lobby!

Daily Photo 25/30: Thankful
I am thankful that I have never gone hungry because I couldn’t afford to buy food. (Going hungry because of poor planning on my part? Well, that’s a different story!) Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you had a wonderful day!

Official pre-trip ritual: the preparation of the knitting!

Daily Photo 23/30: Unexpected
Walking through campus yesterday, I thought maybe I spied an unusual insect on this flower, but no, it was an earring that someone had hung there. How strange! Perhaps left over from a tailgate?

Daily Photo 22/30: IYA2009 in 2010
2009 was the International Year of Astronomy (www.astronomy2009.org), because it marked the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s use of a telescope. I saw this display in the Atlanta airport today—it’s one of the “From the Earth to the Universe” displays of gorgeous astronomy pictures that’s still up a year later! Very cool!

Daily Photo 21/30: Epilogue
The nature of my research these past few weeks has been such that not a lot of serious concentration was needed, so I could listen to audiobooks while I worked. I listened to all of the Harry Potter books, the first time I’ve read all of them in one go. You’ll notice that iPod screen says “Epilogue C”, track 305/305, the end. It’s great to read ‘em all in a...

Daily Photo 20/30: Bunneh!
When my friend S moved a few months ago, she had to give away her sweet rabbit. It was an Open Bunny Adoption, though, so we went and saw him for a bit. He is very snuggly!

Daily Photo 19/30: Ivy
I really like this effect, the look of nature taking over. I also think it’s neat that not all of the leaves are the same color!

Daily Photo 18/30: Tied Up
Maybe an indication you’re putting too much on your sandwiches if you have to tie them shut? ;) (Probably just makes for a prettier-looking delivered product, but still. I laughed.)

Daily Photo 17/30: Ready!
S, A, and I are ready for tomorrow’s Harry Potter premiere!

Daily Photo 16/30: Philmont Memories
It’s funny the habits that stick with you, long after your time at Philmont is done. I will probably always buy Swiss Miss Cocoa and Alpine Spiced Cider, and of course stir with the wrapper!

Daily Photo 15/30: Waiting
I don’t know why, but I like the anticipatory atmosphere of waiting to find out on which track your train will be arriving. Sadly, no more train trips for me for the foreseeable future!

Daily Photo 14/30: Qudditch!
Caught the end of the Quidditch World Cup! So much fun! I actually took some photos on my camera, too, so hopefully I can post those soon.

Daily Photo 11/30: Plane!
Usually when you give a talk at another university, you can look forward to a good audience, lots of science discussions, and often a meal or two. But when your host is a pilot, you also might get a fun excursion!

Daily Photo 10/30: Star Socks
As if being made of star stuff weren’t enough, some of us wear star socks, too! Especially on days when we give talks about our stars. (I promise that tomorrow’s picture will not be of my feet!)

Daily Photo 9/30: Train
I know it’s impractical for long distances, but I absolutely adore taking the train for the short stuff. Tons of leg room, power outlets, scenic views, some have wi-fi, etc. And no lines at security, hooray!

Daily Photo 8/30: Privet Drive
Yes, I know it really says Private not Privet. But on Potter Pk., how can you possibly pronounce it any other way? (Also, oops this is late! I fell asleep last night before I could post it!)

Daily Photo 7/30: Red-tailed Hawk
Spotted this guy on the way into work this morning. He’s kind of hidden in the tree…wish I’d had my big camera handy. Such a good looking bird!

Daily Photo 6/30: Ready To Go!
Thanks to my wonderful friend S, who is my own personal soccer mom for the next few weeks, I got out to REI tonight and picked up some proper cold weather running tights. Half-marathon training resumes tomorrow morning! Yay!

Daily Photo 4/30: "Quesadilla"
(Warning: Obnoxious Texan ahead!) The (in)famous Cambridge Quesadilla. Tasty? Yes. Quesadilla? Not quite. ;) (The construction is funky; it’s more like a burrito that’s been tossed on the grill.)

Daily Photo 3/30: Purple Flower
Just a pretty purple flower from my morning walk! Bonus points if you can name it. (I can’t.)

Daily Photo 2/30: Don't Forget!
I mailed in my ballot, hopefully early enough for it to arrive on time. If you didn’t vote early, take the advice of this flyer I passed on the sidewalk this morning.
